Hi,
Just joined the group. I know it is many months since this posted, but do you still need help with doors? We have distribution in Toronto and may also be able to sell through someone in Mtl. We make the kinds of doors you were seeking. - Mitch…
1 - I'm a door guy. I've been in the wood window and door manufacturing business since 1980 - first my own garage door company: Hanover Doors, then Loewen Windows, Yarrow Sash & Door and now, Lynden Door. I'm on the board of directors for the Cdn Wood Manufacturing Council.
My areas of expertise and experience: marketing, advertising, design and product development.
2-3-4 - I'm also a grandpa, a windsurfer and a golfer.
5 - I own a 1950 cottage - one of a series built along the shores of Jessica Lake in Manitoba lake country and true to the Mid Century aesthetic right down to dinnerware we inherited that matches one of the motifs on the photo gallery (the one that reminds me of the "Jetsons" TV show - I bet you can pick it out.)
Our cottage was built by a master carpenter, using hand tools only. It is as sturdy now as the summer it was built. We live far away, but it is Plan A for our retirement (in the distant, Jetson-like future). Building an addition and striving to keep it within the verncular made us interested in Mid Century architecture and design.
My interest in the site is to continue my education (we have more building plans) and to help myself in designing DOORS for this genre. I see from a quick glance at the discussions that folks are looking for authentic modern doors for their Mid Century spaces, and I'd love to fill that need with affordable, sustainable wood doors!
